According to Yu Xuejun, deputy secretary-general of the China National Light Industry Council and director of the China Light Food Industry Management Center, from January to July, there were 34,698 industrial enterprises above designated size in the food industry, accounting for 32.40% of the light industry; operating income was 4.39 trillion yuan. It accounted for 43.51% of the light industry, with a year-on-year growth rate of 0.05% from negative to positive; completed a total profit of 320.389 billion yuan, accounting for 49.94% of the light industry, a year-on-year increase of 7.49%, an increase of 8.51% higher than that of the light industry in the same period; operating income profit margin 7.30%; the industry's cumulative export delivery value decreased by 3.67% year-on-year; export value decreased by 6.41% year-on-year; import value increased by 23.86% year-on-year.

In terms of industries, from January to July, the operating income of the agricultural and sideline food processing industry increased by 1.27% year-on-year; the food manufacturing industry increased by 1.71% year-on-year; the wine, beverage and refined tea manufacturing industry decreased by 5.44% year-on-year. Since March, the agricultural and sideline food processing industry and the food manufacturing industry, the wine, beverage, and refined tea manufacturing industries have achieved positive growth month-on-month since April. For the development of the food industry this year, Yu Xuejun made a prediction. He said that the growth rate of the food industry fell by 13.4% from January to February, and quickly rebounded to a decline of 0.62% from January to June. From January to July, it turned to a positive growth of 0.05%. In June and July, it increased by nearly 4% year-on-year. With the steady development of my country's macroeconomics, in 2020, the operating income of enterprises listed in the national food industry will increase by about 2%, and profits will increase by about 7%.
